Incredible summer drive – Summer is the time to cruise. But, if your idea of cruising is driving up and down State Street or the Boulevard… then I have a different vision for you. I am talking about classic drives like driving Route #6 from end to end or highway #1 on the California Coast.

Summer Drives

There are national treasures like the California coastal drives. Or maybe New England in the fall, with the vibrant and exhilarating colors. Well, the summer drive I would like you to consider is “The Great Circle RV Trip” of southern Utah. That’s right, and it starts in the entertainment and gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas. Circles around then ends back in the city of sin. Starting in Las Vegas, then moving north toward Zions National Park. The Park by itself is an adventurous summer drive regardless if you are in a car or on foot. Zion’s is a lifetime must-see, considered one of the world’s most beautiful and breathtaking sites. But, that is not the destination. It is the summer drive that is where we are passing through. Las VegasNext on the summer drive is Bryce Canyon National Park. With its inspirational towering spires and pillars, it also is a world treasure. Then, moving on to Kodachrome Basin, the state park is named for its unreal colors. Be sure to take your camera; after all, this drive was named “Kodachrome” for a reason. Continuing, you will find Goblin Valley. This is a state park but well worth the summer drive. It has an irre look and feels, almost frightening if on your own. And many first-time visitors get lost in this bizarre landscape.

Moab

Sticking to the prescribed summer drive, you will run into Moab. A must-see destination for hikers, bikers, and jeep crawlers alike. And just minutes from Canyonlands National Park. Then follow the road to Mesa Verde National Park. It is impossible to miss the beauty on the summer drive through southern Colorado to these distinct cliff dwellers that disappeared thousands of years ago. The next stop on this circular drive is the world-famous Monument Valley. If you have ever watched an old western film, then you have already seen these remarkable vistas. The final destination on this circle summer drive is none other than the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The largest, longest canyon on earth. You are cutting through millions of years of earth’s history. Now would be a great time to get out of the car and use your feet for hiking the bottom of the canyon (or ride a mule) and go river rafting. Either way, it will be memorable.Mesa Verde

After leaving the Grand Canyon, you will continue the summer drive to its conclusion, or beginning depending on how you look at it.
