There are several hundred thousand tire-related breakdowns every year; many of these happen during the Summer when most people are not aware of their tires being the wrong pressure. Check your tire pressure regularly so that you don\u2019t risk a blowout!<\/li>\n<li>Battery \u2013 Summer heat can interfere with car batteries with the increased load from an air-conditioning system in your car, fans, windows, and electrically-operated convertible roofs. Batteries struggle to cope during hot weather.<\/li>\n<li>Engine Oil \u2013 change the oil in your car before Summer. The oil that circulates the engine will thin slightly due to the hot weather. Some parts of the machine may not be protected when your car runs hotter in the Summer. There is potential for engine damage.<\/li>\n<li>Air-Conditioning \u2013 It is necessary to make sure that you maintain the air-conditioning system during the year so that your car will have the power that it needs during Summer heat to cool you. You will want to get the air-conditioning serviced every 20,000 miles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Do I need a windshield screen?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Windshield Screens \u2013 Please invest in a windshield screen to keep the heat from building up as much in your vehicle. It takes time for the heat to escape your car on a hot day, and the screens can genuinely be a help.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Don&#8217;t let your care overheat<\/h2>\n<p>Watch for the \u201cWARNING SIGNS\u201d of your car overheating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The temperature gauge or warning light will alert you to the car starting to overheat.<\/li>\n<li>If you see steam coming out of the engine, pull over, this is the car letting you know that the coolant is now bubbling.<\/li>\n<li>Let the car sit for 30 minutes at least.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the fuel level in your vehicle does not go below \u00bc tank of gasoline. Fuel levels drop a lot quicker when it is hot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Facts about driving in the heat<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Breaking too harshly is a bad habit that needs to stop \u2013 it is hard on your car during the heat.<\/li>\n<li>Accelerating too quickly when not necessary is another habit that is bad for your car during the Summer months.<\/li>\n<li>Sunglasses are a must all year round, but very important during the hot months to protect your eyes. The sun can impact your driving, don\u2019t risk it, wear sunglasses.<\/li>\n<li>Warped Roads \u2013 the heat can cause mostly busy roads or freeways to warp or buckle, and if this occurs, it can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your vehicle stocked with lots of water for everyone.<\/li>\n<li>Remember to keep your car\u2019s fluids topped in the Summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>No children or pets in a hot car<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is incredible how fast the inside of a car heats up.<\/li>\n<li>Leaving a child or a pet in a hot car can create devastating results! It simply is not worth the risk!<\/li>\n<li>Always keep your vehicles locked so that children can not get into your car or truck in the heat or cold.<\/li>\n<li>Call 911 if you see a child or a pet in a car.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>In Summary<\/h2>\n<p>It is a great idea to have your car serviced before the hot summer weather to be ready for the heat.<\/p>\n<p>If your car breaks down in severe heat, activate hazard lights, pull your car off to the side of the road, but remain inside the vehicle with the windows open if you cannot find shade. Call a tow truck right away.\u00a0 However, never try to open the radiator cap when your vehicle is overheating; this can be very dangerous.
